Beware, the bait of marriage!


Pains, sorrow and anguish still fill my heart even as I write this piece. How wicked our world has become. I am talking about the gruesome murder of Cynthia Osokogu by three Facebook fiends who posed as friends.  Her torture and death serves as a very big lesson for mankind, especially Nigerian ladies. I believe the perpetrators of this ugly crime will not go unpunished.
Her case aside, it still beats my imagination why guys would claim to be what they are really not just to get ladies attention and at the end seize every opportunity to bang their victim silly and hurriedly drop them like hot potatoes.Poor women!

I was betrayed -Okey Bakassi


After a four-year sabbatical - during which he became a Senior Special Assistant on Entertainment Matters to former Imo State Governor, Ikedi Ohakim  - cerebral comedian, Okey Bakassi is back in the showbiz circuit.
However, the actor- comedian, whose real name is Okechukwu Anthony Oyebgule, is still smarting from his bitter experience from politics. In a recent chat with Entertainment Express, the Agricultural Engineering graduate of Rivers State University of Science and Technology, Port Harcourt, mused about the hard lessons he learnt from his botched attempt to win the election into Imo State House of Assembly. “People you thought were on your side, are the ones who hurt you the most, you make a lot of enemies in politics which is the reason I am not in the State house of assembly today.”

Lagos to ban smoking in public places



The Lagos State Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice, Mr. Ade Ipaye, on Monday unfolded plans by the state government to ban smoking in public places.
He told the News Agency of Nigeria in Lagos that the provisions of the new Lagos State Traffic Laws had prohibited people from drinking or smoking while driving in the state.

CBN mull coins dispensing ATMs


The Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) says it will facilitate the introduction of Automated Teller Machines (ATMs) that can dispense coins to encourage Nigerians imbibe the culture of spending them.
Mr Chidi Umeano, Head of Shared Services at CBN, on Monday in Lagos said that this plan was in tune with the currency restructuring exercise.

Gunmen kill security officer, wife, kids in Kano


Gunmen yesterday invaded the home of a Civil Defence officer, shooting him, his wife, two children and a physically-challenged dead, a police officer confirmed last night.
“The officer, his wife, three year-old daughter and his crippled brother staying with him were shot dead by the gunmen,” a senior police officer told AFP on condition of anonymity

 because he was not authorised to speak on the incident.

2 Suspects deny involvement in Cynthia's murder


Two suspects arrested in connection with the death of Cynthia Osokogu, who was killed by her social media friends, have denied involvement in the crime.
The suspects, Gideon Okechukwu and Nonso Ezike, were arrested by the police on September 3.  Altogether, six suspects have been arrested in connection with the murder, with four of them already arraigned at the Yaba Magistrate Court.

An Ifon, Ondo born Professor, Ilesanmi Adesida, a former Dean, becomes the first black Vice Chancellor of University of Illinois, USA. 

The 63 year old professor is a naturalized American physicist of Nigerian descent. He was the Dean, College of Engineering at the University before the University Board of Trustees selected him to be the next Vice Chancellor for Academics Affairs and Provost, University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign

Professor Adesida assumed that position last month, August 2012.

An extremely dedicated dog has continued to show its loyalty, keeping watch on its owner's grave six years after he passed away.
Capitan, a German shepherd, reportedly ran away from home after its owner, Miguel Guzman, died in 2006. A week later, the Guzman family found the dog sitting by his grave in central Argentina.
