Anambra police discover arms hoard


The seizure included 14,425 rounds of ammunition; 27 AK47 rifles; two 06 rifles and 13 rocket grenades


The Anambra State police command, on Tuesday, announced the discovery of a hoard of arms hidden away at Oraifite, Ekwusigo Local Government Area of the state.
The arms allegedly belong to a suspected criminal gang. While addressing reporters in Awka, the State Commissioner of Police, Ballah Nasarawa, said the seizure included 14,425 rounds of ammunition; 27 AK47 rifles; one K2 rifle; two 06 rifles; one General Purpose Machine gun; one rocket launcher; 17 rockets; 13 rocket grenades; six pump action guns; three dane guns; and a Berretta pistol.
Ballah said, “With these, they can defeat a small army.”
He stated that the seizure was made through the joint efforts of  the Inspector-General of Police Special Task Force on Heinous Crime and the state anti-robbery squad.
