Former CBN chief dies

Ola Vincent was the governor of the bank between 1977 and 1982

Former Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) governor, Ola Vincent, died on Monday in Lagos.
The economist and banker was the governor of the apex bank between 1977 and 1982.
Following his retirement from the CBN, he recommended the establishment of the Nigerian Deposit Insurance Commission (NDIC) in 1983.
Vincent was, at a time, the Vice president of the African Development Bank, Abidjan, Cote d'Ivoire.
In 1982, he was named a Commander of the Federal Republic (CFR).
The cause of his death was unknown at the time of filing this report.
