Tony Elumelu Foundation Pioneers Fellowship Programme In Agriculture Ministry

DAYS after President Jonathan decorated former Chief Executive Officer of the United Bank for Africa (UBA) and founding chairman of Heirs Holdings, Mr. Tony Elumelu, as Commander of the Order of the Niger (CON), the Tony Elumelu Foundation, which he founded in 2010, has placed a first-ever Fellowship in the Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development.
Sources in the Foundation yesterday said the initiative, a carefully articulated move to strengthen the capacity of the public sector in stimulating private-sector growth, is in sync with its commitment to a stronger and more strategic public/private-sector engagement in Africa.
The programme, which currently focuses on Nigeria, will later expand to other fast-growing African economies to create the enabling environment for inclusive, jobs-focused growth, led by a competitive African private sector.
