Ogun state government has allocated a 500 hectares of land in
Eggua Yewa North Local Government Area of Ogun State to the Lagos state
government for its agricultural programme. The release was a follow up to the request for Agricultural Land
by Lagos State Government and which the letter of allocation was presented to
the Lagos State governor, Babatunde Fashola at a meeting held at Ogun State
Government House, Igbein, Abeokuta.
Also at the meeting, the Ogun State Governor, Senator
Amosun handed over the Certificate of Occupancy (C of O) of Iju Water
Works to the Lagos State Governor, while reconnaissance of Adiyan Water Works
land area is on-going.
In a communique issued at the end of the joint meeting, the two
governors re-affirmed their commitment to the regional integration of the South
The meeting also confirmed the report of the Joint Boundary
Committee of the two states co-chaired by the Deputy Governors.
In the meantime, the two States have agreed to maintain the
status quo and await the determination of the National Boundary Commission on
the Ode Omi issue.
Speaking on the Tax matters the meeting reiterated that the
basis for personal income tax payment is the Residency Rule, which stipulates
that taxes should be paid to the State where the tax payer resides.
“In this regard, the two states will reconcile the number of tax
payers resident in each state that work in the other state.
