The federal government has declared Thursday, October 25 and
Friday October 26 public holidays to commemorate the 2012 Eid-El-Kabir
celebration. This was contained in a statement signed by the permanent
secretary in the ministry of interior, Mrs Anastasia Nwaobia Daniel
According to the statement, the minister of Interior, Comrade
Abba Moro, who made the declaration on behalf of the federal government, called
to Nigerians to imbibe and emulate the exemplary attributes of Islam which
encompasses love, tolerance and peaceful co-existence amongst the people as
practiced by the Prophet Mohammed.
The minister, further enjoined Nigerians, to irrespective of
their faith or religion use the occasion for sober reflection and pray for
peace, unity and progress of the nation, in its march to nationhood.
