Two Suicide Bombers Fail On Target, Kill Selves

TWO suicide bombers, yesterday, killed themselves with their own bombs in two separate incidents.
According to witnesses they were in failed missions to bomb two telecommunications facilities, an Airtel office and a MTN mast in the Kano metropolies.
An eyewitness told our correspondent that at about 8am on Mallam Kato Square, an alleged suicide bomber while on a mission to attack the Airtel office located in the area, parked his primed vehicle  in a suspicious manner at the premises.
But unknown to him, security operatives patrolling the area were closely monitoring him. Once he launched his desperate attempt to smash his vehicle into the Airtel office, an eagle-eyed sniper-security man shot and killed him on the spot.
Moments after the suicide bomber was shot and killed instantly, his primed vehicle, according to our source, exploded, the impact of which damaged the telecommunication’s outfit's reception, as well as three vehicles parked in the premises.

Barely 15 minutes after, the explosion attracted the attention of a lot of security operatives, who on arrival cordoned off the entire area, disrupting free-flow of pedestrian and vehicular movement around the vicinity, compelled some business operators to close shop and leave that part of the city.

Aided by social media, within minutes, the news spread across the city, causing panic and fear among residents, some of whom started running helter-skelter for safety.

Immediately, the incident led to increased security patrol of the streets by operatives of the Joint Task Force. Armoured tanks filled the city along with the emergency check points that sprang up at strategic spots, particularly in Sabon Gari and Burma Road, respectively as men of the armed forces and law enforcement agencies strove to ensure the security of lives and properties.
