Vice
President Muhammad Namadi Sambo yesterday said government alone cannot ensure
education for all Nigerians because the sector is capital intensive.
Sambo made this known in Zaria at the 20th Anniversary and
Annual General Meeting of the Zaria Education Development Association (ZEDA),
which took place at the Kongo Conference Hotel, Zaria.
The Vice President, who was represented by Kaduna State Governor
Muktar Ramalan Yero, said for Nigeria to record meaningful progress in the
education sector, all hands must be on deck.
“Education is capital intensive and requires collective efforts.
Therefore, education for all requires support from all. It is worthy of
commendation that Kaduna State Government had indicated readiness to ensure
close monitoring and supervision of schools and institutions.
“The state is the first in Nigeria to establish Quality
Assurance Board. Essentially, the board was established to ensure enhanced
service delivery in line with best practice,” VP Sambo said.
The chairman of the occasion and former Head of State, General
Yakubu Gowon urged ZEDA to continue to work with elders of Zaria for the
association to consolidate its gains of the last 20 years.
