AVIATION MINISTRY CLEARS DANA AIR TO RESUME OPERATIONS

The Ministry of Aviation said it had cleared Dana Air to resume operations immediately. A statement signed by the Special Assistant, Media to the Minister of Aviation, Mr. Joe Obi, stated that the officials of the Federal Ministry of Aviation and the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) met with the management team from Dana Airlines yesterday in Abuja and deliberated on some safety issues in connection with the operations of the airline.
After the meeting, Obi said that the suspension of the operations of the airline, which took effect last Saturday, was lifted. Obi, however, said that the particular aircraft with problems would remain grounded until the manufacturer, Boeing, recertifies it for operations.

The statement reads in part: “The airline is to resume normal operations immediately. However, the particular aircraft, which had a snag over the weekend, is to remain grounded until after its airworthiness has been recertified by Boeing, the manufacturer of the aircraft.”
