Delta State Commissioner for Youth Development, Mr. Ebifa
Ijeoma, has escaped assassination, even as his driver and orderly were killed
by some suspected kidnappers.
As at the
time of filing this report, the commissioner’s whereabouts was unknown. Sources
said that the commissioner may have been flown abroad for treatment following
the bullet wounds he suffered during the attack.
It was learnt
that the commissioner was attacked at Ebelle community in Igueben Local
Government Area of Edo State on his way to Ambrose Alli University, Ekpoma,
where he registered for post-graduate studies.
The
commissioner’s Prado jeep and Hilux van were riddled with bullets by the
attackers Two occupants of the Hilux van were critically injured and they are
receiving treatment at the intensive care unit of St. Luke Hospital, Asaba.
Confirming
the incident, the Edo State Command Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Mr.
Ahwara Ejiro, said detectives had gone after the attackers.
He said
that the suspects would soon be arrested.
