There
were speculations yesterday over the state of health of the Governor of the Central
Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Mallam Lamido Sanusi, as reports emerged that he is
currently receiving medical attention in a Paris hospital. Daily Newswatch
gathered that the CBN Governor recently underwent surgery for an undisclosed
ailment and that even though the operation was successful, Sanusi was still
being kept under observation.
He is said to have been visited by several
eminent personalities, including the Governor of Kano State, Rabi’u Musa
Kwankwaso, who came to pray for his quick recovery.
When contacted, however, CBN
Spokesman, Ugochukwu Okoroafor, stated that the CBN boss is currently on leave
and would be back in the country today. He confirmed that the Governor was
recently indisposed but that he was now okay. “The Governor is on leave and would
be back in the country tomorrow (today)”, Okoroafor stated.
