ICT PARKS ‘LL LAUNCH DELTA INTO ECONOMIC LIMELIGHT–OFILI
THE Information and Communication Technology (ICT) Park, Asaba, Delta State and the state ICT Incubation Centre, Warri have been described as twin technology investments in the state that will soon launch the state into global economic limelight.
The Special Adviser to the state Governor on Information and Communication Technology (ICT), Mr. Sunny Ofili who stated this recently when he led some members of the State Executive Council (SEC) on an inspection visit of facilities at the incubation centre, said that the twin technology centres are critical in driving the ‘Delta Beyond Oil’ vision of the Uduaghan administration.
While saying that the ICT Park in Asaba has been attracting a plethora of both national and international investors to the state, Ofili expressed the hope that given the take-off of the incubation centre in the Warri axis of the state, the state will soon experience a glut of foreign direct investors.
Ofili who was accompanied on the visit by the State Commissioner for Commerce and Industry, Dr. Kingsley Emu and his Higher Education counterpart, Prof. Hope Eghagha, reiterated the state government’s commitment in ensuring that the incubation centre attained global recognition.
To this end, Ofili explained that plans were on by the state government to make the centre grow and become competitively enterprising and thus creating the needed global markets for their products.
Dr. Kingsley Emu canvassed the need for the centre to explore key marketing organisations, research institutions and have a website that would serve as a platform for graduates from the technology incubation centre to begin to enjoy international connections.
He lauded the initiative behind the establishment of the centr,e noting that it would enhance the job creation potentials of the present administration.
On his part, the manager of the centre, Mr Emeka Okolo outlined some of the criteria for admission into the centre to include good attitudinal behaviour, among others, just as he stressed the need to contain the influx of entrepreneurs at the centre
