PDP IMBROGLIO: JONATHAN SUMMONS BOT FOR CRUCIAL MEETING TODAY

•FACTIONAL CRISIS SPLITS TARABA CHAPTER
WORRIED by the lingering crisis rocking the ruling Peoples Democratic Party, (PDP), President Goodluck Jonathan who is the party’s nationa
l leader has reportedly summoned all members of its Board of Trustees, (BoT), for a family meeting cum dinner for today.
A source at the presidency revealed to the Sunday Tribune, in Abuja on Saturday that the meeting slated for the Presidential Villa Aso Rock Abuja was part of the ongoing efforts to resolve the lingering crisis.
According to the source, “I can tell you authoritatively that the president who is also the national leader of the PDP will be hosting all the members of the BoT of the party to a family dinner on Sunday at the Villa; it is not a formal meeting per se but there is no way the issue at hand, I mean the crisis, will not be discussed.

“I think it will be a good opportunity for Mr. President and the members to rub minds together over the crisis and to find amicable solutions as we approach the 2015 general election. All the party members have to sink their differences so as not to play into the hands of the opposition.”
Continuing, the source added that “No governor walked out on former President Olusegun Obasanjo or raised his voice against him and went unpunished. Whoever did that paid dearly for it. The records are there. Those who tried it are yet to recover from the punishment today. But the case is different now. President Jonathan has all the power to deal with all the perceived defiant members irrespective of their positions, but he is a listening leader who believes in peace, unity, dialogue and consultations. That is why he is trying to consult with all the organs of the party over the present crisis.”
It was gathered that the Chairman of the Board, Chief Tony Anenih, is expected to lead other members including Chief Olusegun Obasanjo, former and serving governors, former and serving principal officers of the National Assembly who are members of the party, former and serving national chairmen of the party and a host of others.
Meanwhile, former Taraba State chairman of the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Alhaji Abdulmumini Vaki said his group known as the “original PDP in Taraba” has resolved to join the new PDP led by Kawu Baraje and Olagunsoye Onyinlola.
The decision to join the new PDP faction, Vaki said, was informed by the majority members who were disenfranchised in the state.
Addressing journalists at the press centre of the Nigeria Union of Journalists, Jalingo, Vaki noted with dismay that the Victor Bala Kona-led PDP in the state remained illegal and that Taraba was among other nine states that the national secretariat of the party in Abuja had invalidated and wondered why the so called present leadership was still parading itself in the state as authentic.
Vaki who called on the party faithful to shun the Victor Bala Kona-led PDP in the state commended his group for being obedient and law-abiding.
Meanwhile, the Vaki-led faction is made up of officials who include Alhaji Abdulmumini Vaki, chairman; Usman Martin, deputy chairman; and Ibrahim Sani, as secretary. Others are Alhaji Sule Labaran, youth leader; Iliya Yusuf, public relation officer and Ubale Yaroji as financial secretary.
