TINUBU OUT OF DANGER

Contrary to reports making the rounds that the health of the leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, had terribly deteriorated, and that he is bed-ridden and near death, Sunday Newswatch can authoritatively reveal that the former Governor of Lagos State is not only out of danger, but is nearing total fitness and recuperating fast in far-away London in the United Kingdom.
Tinubu left Nigeria for the United States of America early last month to undergo a knee surgery, and has since been away from political and public engagements, fuelling speculations that the ‘Asiwaju’ was in grave danger.

But some political associates of Tinubu and impeccable sources close to his London home yesterday, informed Sunday Newswatch of an improved health, citing examples of how the former Governor walks about five kilometres every morning, as a convalescence therapy.
Further findings by our correspondent also revealed that the man, popularly seen as the leader of South West politics, arrived London three weeks ago, from the United States of America, after a successful operation.
As at the time of filing this report, Tinubu was said to be in a meeting with the former Lagos State Deputy Chairman of the defunct Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN), Alhaji Safiriyu Abiodun Sunmola, and some of the state’s council chairmen, including the three from Kosofe Local Government Area and local council development areas, at his Great Portland home, in the West-End Area of London.
Among those said to have visited the APC leader in London within the past three weeks are the party’s interim National Chairman, Chief Bisi Akande, some lawmakers from the Lagos State House of Assembly, and traditional rulers, like the Elegushi of Ikateland, His Royal Majesty Oba SaheedAdemola.
One of Sunday Newswatch sources said: “Asiwaju is a fighter. He decided to come out and fight the nagging knee. He had no choice than to fight it because he still has many battles to fight, and this one cannot be an obstacle.
“There are many battles to be fought on the political arena, so he cannot afford to have a lingering ill-health. That may disturb us, because we are set for elections, we are starting with Anambra, before moving to Ekiti. The man is gradually getting ready. He walks every morning through a five-kilometre stretch. As we speak, he is hosting some politicians. He walked down the staircase, just to show Pa Sunmola that he is fit,” he said.
Before the surgery in the US, Tinubu’s media office had issued a statement in August, intimating the public of the ailment and dousing concerns that may arise from his absence.
“Based on previous sports injury on one of his knees and recent further aggravation on the knee from rigorous political and family-related activities, he has been advised by his doctors, despite his persistent reluctance to take things easy. Tinubu will resume normal political activities and public engagements once cleared by his doctors,” the statement had said.
Tinubu had earlier also been rumoured dead while on medical sojourn abroad in 2012.
Equally, in August 2011, the former ACN leader was widely rumoured to have suffered a stroke and given up the ghost, but his arrival, after weeks of absence, put paid to the speculations.
