MAN ALLEGES DPO THREATENED HIM WITH SERVICE PISTOL

An Engineer, Ahmed Farayola, has accused the Divisional Police Officer in charge of Shasha police station, Mr. Nwachukwu Eburuaja, a Superintendent of Police, of threatening him with his service pistol over an accident involving himself and another motorist.
Farayola told Saturday Mirror that on Wednesday, November 6, 2013, while returning home from work around 10:30p.m, close to Iyana Dopemu Bridge in Lagos State, had accident with another vehicle, which made the driver of the other vehicle to call for police intervention. The two drivers were reportedly taken to Shasha Police Station where they were to make statements of the incident.
According to Farayola, “When we got to the police station, I did not know what the man told them. The DPO came out and started harassing me. He put me behind the counter and later directed them to put me in the cell,” he alleged.

The Engineer also claimed that after a while, the other car owner was allowed to go home while his car was impounded. He claimed further that the police boss only called his younger brother to come and bail him around 2:00a.m, but maintained that while he was trying to explain to the DPO the truth of the matter, the DPO brought out his service pistol, pointed it at him and threatened to shoot him.
Mr. Eburuaja, while speaking with Saturday Mirror on telephone, debunked the allegation of gun threat as claimed by Farayola. Rather, the police boss claimed that all he did that night was to save a man from killing himself. In his words, “He is lying. I work in Police Public Relations for seven years. What that man had told you was pure lies.
How can I threaten to shoot someone because they had accident? Anytime there is an issue I took it upon myself to bring them and try to settle it for them, but that I threatened to shoot him because he had accident, is he an armed robber? He is telling you bloody lies. “For his vehicle to have been impounded at the station, he must have been under the influence of alcohol. Anybody who is drunk we will not allow him to go with his vehicle.
We only save them from killing themselves. We are professionals; we know our jobs. Because of accident, Nah him DPO go come shot am. For what? Na lie. DPO is looking for armed robbers to confront and nah him I go want to shoot am
