DEFECTED GOVS ARE STILL IN PDP -SHEKARAU

Former Kano State governor and All Progressives Congress (APC) chieftain, Mallam Ibrahim Shekarau, said the five governors who recently defected to APC were still members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
The former governor and ANPP presidential candidate in 2011 said this on Tuesday through his Director of Press, Mallam Sule Ya’u Sule in Dutse, Jigawa State, while answering questions from newsmen, saying, “they only made a verbal declaration, but there is no any sign of seriousness, not to talk about commitment.”
According to him, “they are still PDP members because it transcends mere declaration. There is no any commitment on their part that indicated their seriousness.” He added that “up till today, PDP flag is flying at all the government houses. PDP flag and logo are still in their official cars. They have not also returned or destroyed their PDP membership cards; the governors are yet to define their positions to the APC.”

Sule maintained that APC would always welcome defectors to the party, but the serving Governor of Kano, Mr Rabiu Kwankoso, must fulfil some guiding rules and conditions laid down by the party (APC) in the state before accepting him to join the party.
He said the exodus of five PDP governors to APC was a sham and insisted that the governors were still in PDP, going by some indicators.

This came on the heels of insinuations that some of the aggrieved PDP governors that exited the party had been sitting on the fence and when the coast was clear for them, migth make a U-turn to PDP.
He further explained that the APC was open to all, adding, “it is only right for us to know who are genuinely joining us for good and those doing so on the contrary.”
The Sokoto State governor, Magatakarda Wammako, however, had earlier refuted the claim that they might go back to the PDP after their meeting with the president.
