JIGAWA State governor, Alhaji Sule Lamido, was thrown into confusion on Saturday, as indication emerged that his trip to United Kingdom scheduled for today, Sunday, might be cancelled as his international passport was alleged to be missing.
Reports from the state indicated that the governor’s international passport was either misplaced or got missing between government house’s protocol department and embassy of UK while trying to secure UK visa.
Findings by Sunday Tribune revealed that Governor Sule Lamido planned to travel to UK where he was to visit the ailing Emir of Kazaure, Alhaji Najib Hussaini Adamu, who has been in England receiving medical treatment in the last few weeks.
Sunday Tribune learnt that the initial plan of the governor was to leave Dutse for Abuja on Saturday and jet out of the country today to UK, but the plan got thwarted when he could not find his passport.
Government house source stated that the trip could be cancelled and rescheduled till another day.
Another source toldSunday Tribune that up till Saturday, Governor Lamido’s old passport could not be traced, adding that before the closing hours on Friday, “There is no trace of the passport let alone obtaining visa. How can the trip be made then?” the source emphasised.
