NATIONAL CONFAB: OKUROUNMU’S COMMITTEE SUBMITS REPORT NEXT WEEK

The Presidential Advisory Committee on national dialogue has concluded its assignment, with the report to be presented to President Goodluck Jonathan next Wednesday.
The commi
ttee, led by Senator Femi Okurounmu, was set up to fashion out agenda for a national conference to dialogue on critical national questions in the country.
Speaking with the Nigerian Tribune in a telephone chat, Senator Okurounmu said the report was ready and that the committee was to submit the report to the president yesterday (Wednesday) but for the trip of the president to Germany and France.
“ We have concluded our assignment and the report is ready. Everything now depends on the schedule of the president. Once we are able to secure a date, we will submit the report. In fact, we were ready for the submission today (yesterday) but for the president’s trip.

“ We are now looking at next Wednesday. I won’t want to say more than that,” he said.
A visit to the secretariat of the committee showed that officials are winding down with one of the officials informing that “ the committee members had prĂ©pared to travel today but for the postponement of the submission of the report.
“We are packing out of the secretariat. The staff are also going back to their original ministries and offices from where they were deployed to the dialogue secretariat,” the official said.
