NIGERIA’S PROBLEMS MAN-MADE —FASHOLA

Lagos State Governor Babatunde Fashola says members of the Governors’ Forum have resolved not to speak ill of the country just as he blames the current national challenges on religious and ethnic misunderstanding, pointing out that the problems were man-made.
Fashola spoke while hosting the new prelate of the Methodist Church of Nigeria, His Eminence, Dr. Chukwuemeka Uche. He however called for the promotion of unity, ethnic and religious harmony as essential ingredients for peace and progress in the country.

The governor said the problems were created by men and not by God and if men of goodwill arise, they would not only confront them but also successfully overcome them.
“The work we have to do is to define for ourselves the kind of future we want. We must agree on that and once we make that agreement, we can unite about it. It will be easy to unite our efforts towards it. But our minds must meet about what kind of Nigeria we want. Because that is the basis of dreams and dreams come true”.
Noting the need for understanding that there is only one God, Fashola appealed to religious leaders of all faiths to endeavour to bring the mystery of their faiths to the level where the ordinary man can understand, adding that by doing so they would help check religious intolerance in the country.
