PORN STAR DIES AFTER SIXTH BREAST ENLARGEMENT,DOCTOR CONVICTED

 A doctor has been convicted of involuntary manslaughter following the death of a porn star who suffered a heart attack while undergoing her sixth breast enlargement operation.


German Carolin Wosnitza, 23, who performed under the stage name 'Sexy Cora', died after going under the knife to boost her breasts from a size 34F to a 34G.
An anaesthesiologist was today found guilty at a court in Hamburg of failing to ensure Ms Wosnitza had enough oxygen during the surgery in 2011.
During the trial M.F. had told the court she took responsibility for the porn star's death, it said.

AIR HOSTESS SACKED AFTER PICTURE SHOWING HER GIVING PASSENGERS THE FINGER GOES VIRAL



An air hostess who posted a picture of herself giving her passengers the finger has been sacked by Aeroflot airline bosses in Russia after it ended up on Twitter.
Flight attendant Tatiana Kozlenko put the snap up on her personal page on Vkontakte, 
one of Russia's most popular Facebook-style social networks.

Within hours the snap - which appears to show the arm of an air hostess giving the finger to an airplane cabin full of passengers - had clocked up dozens of 'likes'

But the image then went viral after it was posted on Twitter and reTweeted by hundreds of users.
Aeroflot airline bosses soon found out about the photo and fired Ms Kozlenko.

SELLERS OF PORNO MATERIALS ARRESTED


Four distributors of pornographic materials were arrested at Cele Bus Stop on Oshodi-Apapa Expressway on Tuesday by the taskforce after the police raided the area.
The Lagos State Taskforce on Environmental and Special Offences (Enforcement) Unit has begun clampdown on distributors and sellers of pornographic materials across Lagos, Southwest Nigeria.
Those arrested will be arraigned before the Special Offences Court at the taskforce yard and prosecuted for selling obscene materials. The sellers of the materials arrested are Yinka Dada, 25 years; Udoh Nne, 29 years; Sylvester Obodoe, 18 years and Poopola Bamidele, 18 years.

NARROW ESCAPE FOR NNPC OFFICIALS AS AIRCRAFT OVERSHOOTS RUNWAY IN WARRI


It was a narrow escape, Wednesday, for some top officials of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) as they cheated death by the whiskers when the corporation's aircraft in which they were traveling overshot the runway and crash landed at the Osubi Airstrip in Warri, Delta State.
 
Though there was no fatality in the accident which occurred at about mid-day, it however sent jitters down the spines of people especially as it came barely a year after some NNPC officials were killed in a plane crash in Lagos.

KANO REPS VISIT LAWAN IN KUJE PRISON


Members of the House of Representatives from Kano state yesterday paid a solidarity visit to Hon. Farouk Lawan at the Kuje Prisons in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).
There are 24 members of the House of Representatives from Kano state made up of 13 PDP, 8 ANPP, 2 CPC and one ACN.
One of the lawmakers, who made the trip confirmed to our correspondent that they were on their way to Kuje to see Lawan.
Lawan, a four-term lawmaker, is the oldest serving lawmaker from Kano.  He was elected in 1999 and has since been in the House.

JONATHAN JETS OUT TO LONDON, PARIS


President Goodluck Jonathan yesterday night jetted out to London and Paris to confer with the British Prime Minister, Mr. David Cameron and the President of France, Mr. Francois Hollande on matters of vital interest to Nigeria, Britain and France.
He is also scheduled to attend the launching of the Olusegun Obasanjo Foundation in London on Friday.
Presidential spokesman, Dr. Reuben Abati, in a statement, noted that the President’s talks with the British Prime Minister in London are expected to focus on the expansion of trade and economic relations between Nigeria and Britain as well as the enhancement of cooperation between both countries on the war against terrorism.

NEBO, TURAKI NOW POWER, SPECIAL DUTIES MINISTERS


President Goodluck Jonathan yesterday failed to name a new Minister of Defence but approved the deployment of the two newly appointed ministers, Prof. Chinedu Osita Nebo and Mr. Kabiru Tanimu Turaki (SAN).
In a statement by the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Senator Anyim Pius Anyim,  and  made available to LEADERSHIP last night, the government  named Nebo as the substantive minister of power while Turaki became  the minister of special duties (office of the president).

10 OPPOSITION GOVS BACK MERGER TO DEFEAT PDP


OPPOSITION parties on Tuesday took their planned merger against the ruling Peoples Democratic Party a step further when 10 governors from four different political parties met in Lagos and  unanimously endorsed merger plans by their leaders.
The governors, in a communiqué at the end of the meeting, said they hoped to wrestle power from the PDP in 2015 and take the country out of its “current political quagmire.”
The opposition  governors spoke after a four-hour closed door meeting at the Lagos House, Marina, Lagos.
However, the PDP said on Tuesday that it supported the merger by the opposition political parties  because it would strengthen “national debate.”
It also said that it prayed for the success of the project.

FAMILY FRIEND RAPES, IMPREGNATES 15-YEAR-OLD GIRL


Before July 2012 the families of Israel Jolaosho and Taju Adejumo, of Adefemi Ogundipe Street, Meiran in Ifako Ijaiye Local Government Area of Lagos State, were best of friends.
But the relationship went sour recently after Adejumo, 40, allegedly raped Jolaosho’s 15-year-old daughter, Deborah.
After the rape, Deborah, who was a virgin, missed her period. subsequent medical examination showed that the 15-year-old pupil of Meiran Community Junior Secondary School was pregnant.
When Punch Metro visited the Jolaoshos on Monday, Deborah was seven-month pregnant and had been forced to drop out of school because of her condition.

IMMIGRATION UNCOVERS 1,487 ILLEGAL ROUTES TO NIGERIA


Nigeria Immigration Service has uncovered about 1,487 illegal routes to the country.
The NIS also identified 84 regular borders to the country.
The Minister of Interior, Abba Moro, stated this on Tuesday in Abuja while responding to questions on the porous nature of the nation’s borders.
The service, he added, had taken steps by patrolling the routes in order to check the illegal movement of people and goods into the country.
Moro said, “Since I assumed office, we have taken deliberate steps in conjunction with National Boundaries Commission to identify our borders and the routes that lead to Nigeria from other countries, and in the process, we have been able to identify 84 regular borders and over 1,487 irregular routes to Nigeria.”

LAMIDO/AMAECHI CAMPAIGN VEHICLES APPEAR IN KADUNA


As the 2015 presidential race begins to gather momentum, Jigawa State governor Sule Lamido and his Rivers State counterpart Rotimi Ameachi’s hopeful presidential ticket seems to be on the front: some branded vehicles appeared in Kaduna yesterday.
 One of such branded vehicles with the pictures of Lamido and Amaechi was sighted at a car wash by Waff Road, an exclusive residential area in Kaduna. It attracted the attention of passers-by who were seen making some political comments on the development and the chances of the duo.

LAGOS URGES COURT TO DISMISS SUIT ON LEKKI-IKOYI BRIDGE TOLL


The Lagos State Government on Tuesday asked a Federal High Court (FHC) to dismiss a suit challenging its purported plan to introduce a N500 toll for motorists using the new Lekki-Ikoyi Bridge.
Mr Olarewanju Akinsola, Counsel to the government, told Justice Saliu Saidu of the FHC in Lagos that the suit was premature and denied allegations that N500 had been fixed as toll to be collected.
In his preliminary objection and counter affidavit filed before the court, Akinsola noted that the project was yet to be completed and handed over to the State Government.

SURE-P SPENDS N70BN IN SIX MONTHS –KOLADE


Chairman, Subsidy Reinvestment and Empowerment Programme, SURE-P, Dr. Christoper Kolade, yesterday said that his committee spent over N70bn within six months last year on projects. Kolade, who spoke with State House correspondents after the presentation of the 2012 report on the activities of the committee to President Goodluck Jonathan, noted that though the committee was inaugurated in February 2012, its activities started in July when funds were released.
He explained that out of the N180bn released by the government last July for the activities of the committee, it could only spend N70bn.

CNN's Chief International Correspondent and anchor of Amanpour, a nightly foreign affairs programme on CNN International, Christiane Amanpour, on Monday night cynically likened a 35-minute blackout at Super Bowl to a regular feature in Nigeria.
She, however, said her submission was the position of Nigerians who had reacted to the development immediately news of the blackout hit the airwaves by reaching out to the CNN.
As millions of viewers watched Sunday's Super Bowl during the third quarter in New Orleans, the United States, there was a power outage at the Super Dome midway through the game for about 35 minutes. When electricity supply was eventually restored, the Baltimore Ravens defeated the 49ers.

BOKO HARAM TRAINING CAMPS FOUND IN MALI - ‘OVER 200 NIGERIANS TRAINED FOR 10 MONTHS IN TIMBUKTU’


Hundreds of Boko Haram members stayed at training camps with Malian militants for months in Timbuktu, learning to fix Kalashnikovs and launch shoulder-fired weapons, a report has said.
The Nigerians fled the city into the desert, along with the other militants, days before a French airstrike on January 20, American newspaper Wall Street Journal reported.
A man who said he was hired to cook for the militants said the Boko Haram members trained for about 10 months at what is now a bombed-out customs-police building on Timbuktu’s desert fringe, intermingling with a local al Qaeda offshoot called Ansar Dine.
“Every day I saw people coming here, saying they want to sign up,” said the man, whose description of the militants’ activities matched those offered by four neighbours.

PDP BACKS N20BN FIRST LADY, VP’S MANSIONS

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) yesterday backed the proposed building for the African First Ladies Peace Mission (AFLPM) which will gulp the sum of N4 billion, and the construction of the official residence of Vice President Mohammed Namadi Sambo at the cost of N16 billion as provided for in the budget, adding that the construction of the official residence of the vice president was occasioned by the changes in the redesigning of the project.
The party also denied that the Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) budgeted the sum of N7 billion for the construction of two Abuja City gates and N5 billion for the rehabilitation of commercial sex workers, stressing that such budgetary provision was not in the 2013 FCTA budget.
