BOMB SCARE AT AHOADA AND OKEHI COURTS IN RIVERS

An improvised explosive device suspected to be dynamite in the early hours of today exploded at both Ahoada and Okehi high Courts in Rivers State .
Eye witness told Daily Trust that a substa
nce suspected to be dynamite went off at the NBA section of the Ahoada high court and razed down part of the building housing the Nigeria Bar Association. There was no casualty as of the time of filling this report just as the court officials and lawyers within the premises took to their heels.
The Ahoada high presided over by Justice Charles Wali was expected to preside over a case involving the speaker of Rivers State house of Assembly, Dan Amachree, 24 other members of the Assembly and Evans Bipi, leader of the anti Amaechi members in the State Assembly. Amachree had obtained an injunction from the Court in December 2013 restraining Bipi from parading himself as the speaker of the Assembly. The matter was to come up today when a section of the Court was blown off with a dynamite.
Also a section of Okehi high Court was also engulfed in fire. The cause of the fire outbreak which destroyed some sections of the Court and vital documents could not be established as of the time of filing this report.
Rivers State police command public relation officer, Ahmed Muhammed, however denied that dynamite exploded at Ahoada high Court. He said a source informed the police that dynamite was planted within the premises of the Court. He said the police immediately moved in to detonate the explosives. He said the police succeeded in detonating the bomb.
Rivers State chapter of PDP accused Rivers State government of masterminding the Ahoada explosion. The party in a statement signed by media assistant to the State party Chairman, Jerry Nedam, said the state government bombed the Court so as to scuttle the case involving Bipi which comes up today.
