FIVE SUSPECTED HOMOSEXUALS FACE TRIAL IN BAUCHI

FIVE persons have been arraigned in a Bauchi court for allegedly engaging in gay activities, contrary to the laws of the land.
Police Public Relations Officer, Haruna Mohammed, who confirmed
 the incident said police are aware of the case but the suspects were arrested by the Shariah Commission and they have been taken to court.
Effort to get the Chairman of the Commission, Mustafa Baba Ilelah, failed but he recently told reporters in Bauchi that the suspects were arrested and would be charged to court after investigation.
A senior Hisbah official who doesn’t want his name published said the suspects were arraigned before the Upper Shariah Court number four and they have been remanded in prison custody.
Four of the suspects were said to have pleaded guilty while one denied the charge.
The case will come up on January 23.
