I WILL NOT RESIGN AS DEPUTY GOVERNOR – MUKTARI SHAGARI

The deputy Governor of Sokoto State, Barrister Mukhtari Shehu Shagari, yesterday said he would not resign his position and would remain loyal to his boss until the end of his tenure.
Sh
agari spoke at the first meeting of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Sokoto State since the defection of Governor Aliyu Magatakarda Wamakko to the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APC), about a month ago.
Clad in his usual white Baban riga, Shagari said that the political differences between him and his boss would not make him resign his position. “I will remain in my position and also try as much as I can to continue to justify his confidence in me,” he said. Shagari fell out with his boss after the latter had dumped the PDP for the opposition APC.

Although he was part of the meeting where the decision to leave was taken, Shagari addressed a press conference shortly after, dissociating himself from the decision.
The deputy governor, who is the designated leader of the party in the state, also expressed optimism that his boss would make a u-turn soon, saying it was a known fact that the PDP was the only party with nationwide acceptance.
He assured that the party would reclaim its governorship seat from the APC in 2015, which he said was already divided in the state.
