WOMAN ARRAIGNED FOR VIOLATING LAGOS RENT LAW

Lagos—A 42- year-old Lagos State government official, Olatunbosun Onoabhagbe, has been arraigned before an Ebute-Metta Magistrate’s Court, over alleged threat to life and for soliciting two years rent against the state’s rent law.
The defendant, who was docked before Magistrate Olatunbosun Abolarinwa, is facing a six-count charge bordering on conspiracy, threat to life, unlawful damage, breach of peace and collecting of two years rent, preferred against her by the police.
Police prosecutor, Cyril Ejiofor, told the court that the defendant and others at large, committed the alleged offence in June 20, 2013.
He said the incident happened at Iponri Shopping Complex at Surulere area of Lagos.
Ejiofor said Onoabhagbe threatened to eliminate one Abiodun Olufunsho, adding that the defendant, who rented out a shop to Olufunsho at the rate of N250,000 per year, collected the sum of N500,000, for two years which the complainant paid to her.
