I’LL BREAK SECOND TERM JINX IN OYO – AJIMOBI

Oyo State governor Abiola Ajimobi has promised to break the jinx of second term in the state, saying that his performance in office would end the myth.
At a meeting with an automobile dealers’ as
sociation in Ibadan yesterday, Ajimobi said the myth of second term in office in the state had been stretched beyond its relevance as the idea of a performing governor was not factored into it.
He said that this was also the myth that was represented in the notion that the Ibadan people do not serve a governor twice, stating that since he was the one serving the people of Ibadan and Oyo State in general, the notion did not apply to him.
The governor referred to all the sleepless nights he spends and the daily inconveniences he undergoes in the process of changing the state and concluded that he was the one serving the state and not the other way round.

“We are serving the people, not the people serving us. The notion that no governor had ever served twice in Oyo State is wrong because the late sages Chief Obafemi Awolowo and Chief Ladoke Akintola ruled the state twice.
“You can see that no government has ever done what we are doing in Oyo State now. I am ready to serve the people as long as the constitution permits,” he said.
Ajimobi, who went philosophical on the concept of power, said that it behoves anyone who occupies a position of power to make good use of it, as whatever anyone does with what God had given them would be recorded by posterity.
“Those in position of authority should always make good use of the opportunity and make positive impacts in the lives of the people and do this with the fear of God,” he said.
The association’s chairman, Kamorudeen Jayeola, praised the governor for the peace that his administration had brought to the state as well as the spate of infrastructural developments, stating that Ajimobi had surpassed the expectations of the people.
APC inaugurates FCT interim committee
Meanwhile, the All Progressives Congress (CPC) has inaugurated its interim executive council for the six area councils in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).
Inaugurating the committees yesterday in Abuja, APC interim chairman Senator Sidi Ali tasked the interim executives to begin the inauguration of interim executive councils at the ward and polling centre levels.
Senator Ali said the inauguration of the excos was to avoid a vacuum in the leadership and administration of the party at the local government levels, adding that by the end of March the party would elect permanent officials at its convention.
Responding on behalf of the executives, AMAC interim executive chairman Hon. Abdullahi Adamu said they would work to ensure the success of the party in the 2015 general elections.
