Lagos State Governor, Mr. Babatunde Fashola, yesterday tackled the Federal Government over the alleged missing $20 billion from the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation, NNPC account.
He said the amount could provide 20,000 mega watts of electricity for the country. Fashola, however appealed to the President Goodluck Jonathan-led administration to intensify efforts at recovering the missing money from NNPC’s account to address the problem of epileptic power supply in the country.
Fashola, who spoke while commissioning Addo- Kekere , Lagbasa and Ajah Badore Roads in Eti-Osa Local Government Area of the state, wondered why it is taking the Federal Government such a long time to recover such huge amount of money.
He said; “If the Federal Government finds the $20billion that is missing, we will have constant power supply. I know that if we have $1 billion, we will have 1, 000 megawatts of electricity in the country. So that is equivalent to 20, 000 megawatts.” Reacting on current security challenges in the country, Fashola charged Lagosians to be vigilant, saying security has been beefed up in motor parks across the state.
