PARENTS OF ABDUCTED SCHOOL GIRLS FLAY SHETTIMA FOR NOT VISITING CHIBOK

Barely 6 days after suspected Boko Haram terrorists stormed Government Girls Secondary School (GGSS) Chibok and abducted over 129 school girls writing the Senior Secondary School Certificate Examinations (SSCE), parents of the students and concerned indigenes of Chibok have expressed dismay over what they described as “nonchalant attitude of state governor, Alhaji Kashim, who has failed to pay them a sympathy visit.
Although, Governor Shettima last Wednesday told journalists that he had wanted to visit Chibok or relocate to the ill-fated school, after dishing out N50 million ransom to anybody who volunteers information that will lead to the rescue of the victims, but the security operations taking place around the area could not warrant him pay the visit.
However, concerned people from Chibok yesterday in a telephone interview with our Correspondent insisted that the governor deliberately decided to abandon them particularly in this trying period.

Mr. Amos David Chibok, one of the parents whose 7 children including those of his elder brother and sister were amongst those abducted and yet to be rescued said:
“ We in Chibok are highly disappointed with Governor Shettima for not identifying with our pains and sorrow. I have to say this because almost 6 days ago, we had that the governor was scheduled to pay visit to Chibok. We anxiously waited on daily basis, but all our hopes have been thrown into dust bin. In some places where there were attacks, the governor did not waste time to pay visit and sympathized with whatever befell them, but in our own case, is a different story; may be, the lives of our daughters are different from others”.
Our correspondent gathered from sources close to the government that Governor Shettima has made frantic effort to visit Chibok for almost three times, but all plans to visit the site of the incident was however cancelled following a security report that the place is not safe as the insurgents have taken over the roads from Sambisa Forest leading to Chibok, as they attacked different locations almost on daily basis.
It was also gathered that a scheduled plan by Shettima on Friday had to be immediately cancelled following a deadly clash between some terrorists, security operatives and men of the youth vigilante also known as civilian JTF around Dalwa general area, a suburb of Maiduguri where series of road attacks have been taken place by terrorists leading to the death of several motorists and passengers.
Dalwa, a small community and about 20 kilometers away from Maiduguri, the state capital is along Maiduguri – Damboa – Biu road that also leads to Chibok Council area.
