CHIBOK GIRLS IN GOOD HEALTH —BOKO HARAM SPIRITUAL TEACHER

THE over 200 schoolgirls abducted 85 days ago in Chibok, Borno State, are said to be healthy and feeding well.
An unnamed spiritual Boko Haram teacher, in an interview with the Brit
ish Broadcasting Corporation (BBC) on Tuesday, said the girls were in good state of health.
He said that some of the girls had converted to the Islamic faith, while those that refused to join Islam had not been forced to do so.
According to him, “the group does not kill women and children intentionally, as Islam does not permit that. They are killed only when caught in the crossfire, as they go after their targets.”

Speaking on the girls, he said “they are healthy, feeding and all living well. We didn’t differentiate between them at all. Why? Because Allah commands us to do to them equally. Some of them say they would not come back to Islam, we ask them to stay, no problem. There is no forcing in Islam, but some of them are converting to Islam, though we are not differentiating them. If you see them now, you would see they don’t have any problem.
“Yes, we want the Nigerian government to release our members. As our leader, Abubakar Shekau, promised to the media, if today the government releases our members, tomorrow or the next day, we promise you will see all of them.”
“I am telling you a fact, they are in a state of amnesty. They don’t have a problem.”
Nigeria’s security agencies have been making efforts to rescue the girls and had stressed that they were being cautious to ensure that there was no casualtywhile carrying out the rescue operation.
