FESTAC UNDER THREAT —LG CHAIR

THE Chairman Amowu Odofin Local Government In Lagos State, Ayodele Adewale, has raised the alarm over the alleged activities of “criminal and notorious” group in the council area.
Adewale also stated that FE
STAC Town and the whole of Amuwo Odofin was under siege from the group, whose activities were “surprisingly supported “ by the police in the area.
The Area commander in the area, Dan Okoro in his reaction to the allegation, however refuted that members of the organisation , Community Policing Youths Vanguard, were criminals , describing them as those who assist the police in curbing crime.
Adewale while speaking with newsmen at the council secretariat on Thursday claimed that his life and those of his family were under threat from members of the group, who allegedly attacked the council secretariat in the presence of heavily armed policemen.
“The police have compromised. My life is in danger .If anything happens to me, please do not rest until justice is done. We have written several petitions but nobody has been arrested “the council chair said.

The local government chairman, while showing a video of the attack at the council secretariat last Thursday identified members of the group, who were throwing broken bottles and other objects at workers of the council.
He said that officials of the Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), who were presented at the council saved him from being killed by the hoodlums.
“They said that four people died. Let them tell us their names and where their bodies are being kept. Let them give us the names of the hospital where the injured victims were treated,” he said.
We have video evidence of all their activities “ Adewale said
He continued that “We paused to ask, why the Nigeria Police have not arrested the group that came to attack the Local Government headquarters, after receiving video clips and evidence at their disposal.”
“We are using this medium to call on the President Goodluck Jonathan, the Lagos State Government, the Inspector General of Police to investigate the matter and if found guilty, should be prosecuted, the senior police officer involved for peace to reign,” he said.
Jola Ogunwusi , the. chairman of FESTAC Residents Association also called for the transfer of the police chief , describing him as a threat to the peace of the Federal Government estate
“Dan Okoro was embraced by all when he assumed duty until he formed the illegal group. We therefore, call for his removal so that we can enjoy our peace,” Ogunsusi said
“What the local government chairman is asking for is impossible, because he expect me to give him the exhibit in the police custody or give him report on our security investigation.” Area E commander said
He added that ‘the chairman is not my boss, I reported directly to the commissioner of Police Lagos State”
