OSUN POLL: WHAT JONATHAN, SAMBO, MU’AZU DISCUSSED WITH OYINLOLA

A meeting of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) South-West leadership caucus held on Monday night in Abuja, has finally resolved the tussle over the slot of PDP national secretary zoned to the zone.
It was gathered that the meeting convened by Chief Olabode George, one-time Deputy National Chairman of PDP, South-West, in the spirit of genuine reconciliation, unanimously agreed to support Professor Wale Oladipo, to continue in office as the PDP national secretary pending the suit of the former occupant, Prince Olagunsoye Oyinlola, at the Supreme Court.
According to a source at the meeting,”we have agreed that Oladipo should remain the national secretary and will be presented for ratification at the coming national convention but if the Supreme Court rules in favour of Oyinlola, there is nothing one can do than to obey it and allow Oyinlola to continue.”

Both Chief Ebenizer Babatope and Professor Tunde Adeniran, two strong contenders for the post of PDP national secretary reportedly boosted the spirit of reconciliation at the meeting when they withdrew their interest in the slot in the interest of peace.
It was gathered that the duo of Babatope and Adeniran, said that their withdrawal of interest in the race for PDP national secretary position was motivated by the initiative by the PDP South-West leadership caucus, which they said would promote the interest of the zone in the overall politics of the zone, if encouraged.
The Nigerian Tribune further learnt that Babatope who initially spoke against the manner Oladipo was brought in as the PDP national secretary, said in agreement with the move for reconciliation among members of the party in the south-west, he would immediately withdraw a case he had on the issue at Court 7, Abuja.
The convener, Bode George in his opening remarks, sued for peace and understanding among the PDP leaders and members in the south west, stressing on the necessity for a bond among all anchored on the need for all to work in unison towards winning all the South-West states in the 2015 general election.
Meanwhile, the PDP, on Monday, opposed a suit by its South-West chapter over the lawful occupant of the national secretary post.
Plaintiffs who are party chieftains in the six states of the zone are asking a Federal High Court in Lagos, to compel the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), to recognise Professor Wale Oladipo, as the lawful national scribe of the party.
Defendants in the suit are INEC, PDP and Prince Olagunsoye Oyinlola.
INEC in its preliminary objection said it could not acede to the plaintiffs’ request because there was no court order to that effect.
