WHY UMARU DIKKO’S BURIAL IS DELAYED

The delay in the burial of Second Republic Minister of Transport,Alhaji Umaru Dikko who died in London was said to have been caused by the insistence of some highly placed citizens in the foreign land that the politician be buried in the United Kingdom.
According to an anonymous family source in Kaduna,late Dikko who was exiled in the UK after the coup that toppled the Shagari government,was able to acquire dual nationality and therefore,”the white men said he is also their own and should be buried in England.”
However,another source told journalists in Kaduna that Dikko had died in his London home and his family were still not able to get a death certificate in respect of the sad development.
The death certificate,they said,was vital to enable his family members sort out the issue of inheritance and for other purposes,according to the source.
As a Muslim and all things been equal,Dikko should have been buried immediately in accordance to Islamic injunctions.
Meanwhile,Dikko’s extended family members in Kaduna and Zaria,including other dignitaries and concerned Nigerians had expected the arrival of the corpse in Nigeria since Friday,even as many Kaduna residents thought the heavy security presence in the state capital on Saturday was due to the arrival of the corpse and subsequent burial in his home town of Zaria.
