EBOLA: DISEASE IS CURABLE, BUT DIFFICULT -TRADITIONALISTS

In the face of the growing concern over the spread of Ebola disease, Traditional Religion Worshippers Association, TRAWSO,Osun State branch, yesterday said the dreaded disease can be treated with traditional medicine, even though it is difficult.
Speaking in Osogbo during a press conference, as part of activities marking this year’s edition of “Isese Day”, the president of the group, Chief Idowu Awopetu, said the Ebola disease was not new, adding that it was just one out of the 201 diseases with the name Sanponna.
He, however, contended that the disease was difficult to treat and hence, suggested preventive measures to avoid contracting the disease in the first place. As part of measures to avoid the disease, Awopetu called for strict observance of personal hygiene, urging people to be careful of food they eat and avoid contact with anyone manifesting symptoms of the disease.

To treat the dreaded disease using traditional medicine, Awopetu said, special concoctions and other traditional antidotes could be prepared for whoever is suffering from the disease.
The renowned traditionalist then allayed fears about the disease, positing that he had consulted Ifa oracle on the matter and that it had assured him that it would not allow the disease to spread in the country.
“I consulted Ifa and immediately I finished my consultations, I made my findings known through FaceBook. The Ebola disease is not new but it is a punishment for the wrongs done by the people of the country where it was first noticed.
“The disease is just one out of 201 diseases in one disease Yoruba people referred to as Sanponna. It is difficult to cure but it is definitely curable. There are concoctions and other traditional antidotes that can be prepared to cure the disease.
“But it is advisable to avoid the disease as much as possible by observing personal hygiene. People must also watch what they eat and avoid having contact with anyone with the symptoms of the disease,” Awopetu said.
Highlighting some of the activities lined up for the annual Isese festival, coming up on August 20, TWARSO president said there would be Apebo, the invocation to all divinities, Iwure ,prayers for the state, the government and the devotees.
