EBOLA: LAGOS GOVT DEBUNKS NEWS OF INFECTED NIGERIAN

The Special Adviser to Lagos State Governor on Public Health, Dr. Yewande Adeshina, yesterday said there is no Nigerian that has so far tested positive to the deadly Ebola virus.
She said
the person that was suspected and speculated to have contacted the virus, following his contact with the deceased Liberian, Patrick Sawyer, was under close medical observation.
She restated that the Nigerian in question, along others who had both first and second contacts with Sawyer, had been screened but showed no infection. She explained that the man who assisted the late Liberian at the airport was only running temperature but did not have Ebola symptoms as being rumoured.

She said she personally visited the man, who happened to work at the airport, revealing that he was hale and hearty.
“We want to debunk the rumour that is going around that there is a Nigerian infected with Ebola virus. There is no Nigerian infected with EBV as far as we know. None of the contacts that we are tracing has a fever. None of them is sick,” she said.
The gentleman in question is a good citizen that works at the airport. He was given a thermometer to check his temperature and called in to report his temperature.
“His temperature was 37.8 and he felt he should come in since the cut off was 38. He was brought in and monitored all day long yesterday. I was with him till 9p.m. last night. His temperature this morning is 36.7. He is not sick; he does not not have the virus. Please nobody we know of is sick of Ebola Virus Diseases,” Yewande said.
On the exact number of people that flew with the late Sawyer on the same airline, the Special Adviser said the government was taking necessary steps to ensure that all the passengers currently in Nigeria were given adequate medical attention to avoid further spread.
