KANO POLICE ACADEMY EXPELS 35 CADETS

The Nigeria Police Academy, Wudil, Kano state, said it has expelled 35 out of the 700 cadets for its degree regular course admitted into the institution, for alleged misconduct.
This was revealed by the
academy’s commandant, A.I.G. Baba Adisa Bolanta, at the first matriculation ceremony of the Degree Programme Cadets Regular course 1, yesterday at the academy’s parade ground.
Mr. Bolanta also maintained that the institution shall continue to discharge those who show evidence of involvement in theft, drug addiction, illicit conducts or other misdemeanour.
His words: ” Let me also remind you that when this programme commenced on September 22, 2013, you were almost 700 in number as cadets, but now you are fewer by 35; about 35 of you were discharged after having been found wanting for different cases of misconduct unbecoming of a cadet officer in training. We are not going to compromise our standards of discipline. Therefore we shall continue to discharge those who show evidence of involvement in theft, drug addiction, illicit conducts or other misdemeanour”.

“If we continue to lose 35 cadets every year, then by the end of your five year course, there will be only about 500 of you left, compared to the nearly 700 that started the course last year. It is up to you to decide whether or not you want to be among the good ones who will proudly pass out in September 2018, or be discharged out of the academy before then.” He added.
The commandant also charged the matriculating cadets to exhibit good character and discipline while training and after training.
Earlier in a remark, the academy’s coordinator, Professor Munzali Jibril, commended President Jonathan Goodluck’s administration for transforming the College into a degree awarding Institution.
He also tasked the cadets to “consider themselves exceptionally lucky” to have been admitted into the academy, because, ” you will not pay tuition fees, you will not be required to pay accommodation fees, you will not be required to pay for your meals throughout your period of study; you will never experience strikes by your lecturers, you will not have to go for NYSC and by and large, you will not go in search of a job”, he disclosed
The total of 657 cadets took the oath during the matriculation ceremony from Faculty of Law, Science, faculty of Social and Management Science as well as Faculty of humanities.
The institution was transformed into degree award winning institution in October, 2013 and currently operating under four faculties and about ten departments.
