PSC PROMOTES EIGHT OFFICERS TO DIG

The Police Service Commission has approved the promotion of six Assistant Inspectors–General of Police and two Commissioners of Police to the rank of Deputy Inspectors–General of Police.
The AIGs are Dan’A
zumi Doma, Mamman Tsafe, David Omojola, Solomon Arase, and Christopher Katso and Salihu Hashidu, while Hilary Opara and Sotonye Wakama were promoted from the rank of Commissioner of Police.
The promotion followed the retirement of seven DIGs that served with the former Inspector-General of Police, Mohammed Abubakar, who retired from service on July 31,2014.

The promotions are with effect from August 19, 2014.

A statement by the Assistant Director,Press and Public Relations, PSC, Ferdinand Ekpe in Abuja on Tuesday, said the Commission re-affirmed its earlier decision that promotions from the ranks of ACPs to AIGs would only be done after interviews with the affected officers.

The Commission said it had reviewed the time limit within which aggrieved police officers can lodge complaints against punishment meted to them to 30 days from the receipt of the decisions.

It also availed aggrieved officers the opportunity to appeal directly to the Commission where an action on its decision is not implemented by the Police authorities as directed by it.

“The Chairman of the Commission, Dr. Mike Okiro, while congratulating the newly promoted officers enjoined them to see their elevation as opportunity to serve, imploring them to use their wealth of experience in uplifting the Nigeria Police Force,” the statement added.
