It is good news for intending private candidates for the forthcoming November/ December 2014 West African Senior School Certificate Examination, WASSCE, as the examination body- the West AfricanExamination Council, WAEC, has introduced on-the-spot registration opportunity for them commencing next week Tuesday, August 26.
This was revealed yesterday at a media briefing addressed by the Head of Nigeria’s office of WAEC, Mr. Charles Eguridu, even as he warned the prospective candidates with symptoms of sickness to stay away from examination centres as part of efforts to curb the spread of the dangerous Ebola Virus Disease, EVD. Eguridu, who said the initiative, which is tagged “registration for walk-incandidates,” will attract the sum of N25,000, also stated that it would afford private candidates the rare opportunity of walking into any of the exam body’s offices nationwide to register and sit for the examinations same day.
He said: “The registration of the “walk-incandidates” which will commence on Tuesday, August 26, will continue throughout the duration of the examination.
The candidates should also note that they would only be able to sit for the examination in cities and towns where the Council’s offices are located provided they have two passport photographs, in addition to the registration fee, in bank draft, drawn in favour of WAEC and not later than the day of the paper they intend to sit.”
