EX-LG CHAIRMAN HELD OVER SECRET CULT MEMBERSHIP

An Akure Magistrates’ Court has remanded a former chairman of Ose Local Government of Ondo State, Afolabi Mabogunje, and six others for alleged robbery and membership of a secret cult.
The other accused are; Temitope Abiola, Agun Adeniyi, Eniola Obasoto, David Agun-loye, Apejoye Ayodeji and Boyede Owodara.
Mabogunje, 40, and the others are also charged with conspiracy and unlawful possession of firearms.
The court did not take the pleas of the accused as the magistrate, Mr Adebisi Daomi, said he needed advice by the state Ministry of Justice.
He ordered that the case file be duplicated and sent to the ministry.
Daomi directed that the accused be kept in prison custody, and adjourned the case to Oct. 17.
The prosecutor, ASP Isah Atanegbe, had told the court that the accused and others at large committed the offences on Sept. 21.
The prosecutor said the offences contravened Sections 6(b), 6(c), 3(1), 1(2)(a, b) of Cap R11 Robbery and Firearms (Special Provision) Act, Laws of the Federation, 2004. (NAN)
