AMAECHI’S ATTACK ON JONATHAN, CHILDISH —RIVERS PDP

THE Chairman of the Rivers State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Mr Felix Obuah, has described as “unwarranted name-calling and rabble-rousing” the recent attack of Governor Rotimi Amaechi on President Goodluck Jonathan.
The governor, while speaking at the commissioning of an 8,000-capacity football stadium complex built in Degema, headquarters of Degema Local Government Area, at the weekend, had poured vitriol
ic at the president and asked the people of the state to vote out PDP in the 2015 elections.
However, Rivers PDP chairman, in a statement issued in Port Harcourt, on Monday, said the governor’s action “is shameful, childish and underscores the level of Amaechi’s maturity and upbringing.

“It further shows that Governor Amaechi has demeaned the exalted office of the governor and exposed himself as one with a lose mouth.”
The opposition party alleged that Amaechi had been instigating the people of Kalabari Kingdom to take up arms against the Federal Government and promoting hatred against the person of the president, an Ijaw, over the disputed Soku oil wells.
“Besides the fact that Governor Amaechi’s comments and actions are contraventions of the Electoral Act on campaigns ahead of the 2015 general election, his comments are also very provocative, confrontational and subversive against the person and office of the president and PDP.
“We hereby condemn synchronised and methodical attacks on the person and office of President Jonathan, his wife and First Lady of Nigeria and the PDP.
“PDP shall henceforth resist any attempt by Governor Amaechi to continuously slander, insult and undermine the office and person of President Goodluck Jonathan.”
