ARMY RELEASES KADUNA TEEN ARRESTED OVER BUHARI CONVOY BLAST

Mansir Yusuf, 16, who was arrested by military authorities in connection to the bomb blast which targeted former Head of State General Muhammadu Buhari has been released. When he was arrested, he was dressed like a lady, which he has admitted to enjoy doing.
Buhari’s motorcade was hit by suicide car bombers in Kawo barely two hours after
a solo bomber attacked the convoy of Sheikh Dahiru Usman Bauchi on Alkali Road in Kaduna, in July. Both men escaped unhurt but police said over 30 people were killed in all.
Yusuf, wearing women’s clothing and accoutrements was attacked by a mob at the scene of Kawo blast for allegedly being one of the bombers, before he was rescued by soldiers. The soldiers later arrested him and issued a statement saying he could be behind the blast and was to be investigated. He spent few days at a military hospital where he received treatment on the injuries he sustained from the mob attack.

The Deputy Director, Army Public Relations, 1 Division, Colonel Usman Abdul could not be reached by telephone for comment and did not reply text messages but Yusuf claimed he was found innocent and released after spending some days in detention.
Yusuf’s mother, Zubaida, had claimed her son was innocent, that the military mistook her son for a terrorist because he was found wearing strange clothes. She also claimed her son was under “demonic attack” which made him cross-dress. She then challenged the government and anyone to come to where she lives and ask about the youngster. “They all know him and his spiritual challenges for years,” she said.
Weekly Trust returned to Yusuf’s house in Mando and found that he was released from detention and stays with his mother. He said while he was in custody, investigators searched his room and found nothing except female clothing. Yusuf added: “They arrested me and took me to 1 Division and I was neither beaten nor subjected to any inhumane treatment. They later realized that I was innocent. They asked me about Boko Haram and I told them I don’t know anything about them. After a while they told me that I should call any of my relatives to sign for my release so that I can go home. The Village Head of Mando then sent someone and I was released.”
Yusuf said he was not placed under any form of restriction and that he is struggling to retrieve his mobile phones seized by the soldiers. He also told Weekly Trust that he wants to go back to school, as he dropped out because school fees were hiked and his mother couldn’t afford it.
