WE WON’T ALLOW EBOLA TO DESTROY TEXAS – OBAMA

Following the case of the Ebola Virus Disease (EVD) recorded in Dallas, Texas, President Barack Obama has said he would not fold his arms and allow the disease to destroy the state.
A Liberian, Mr. Thomas Eric Duncan, had on September 20 brought Ebola to United States after he had contact with a woman whom he reportedly helped to the hospital.
Health officials in America are concerned that dozens of people might have had contact with either the patient or individuals who had direct contact with him.
Four persons believed to be related to Duncan have been quarantined due to possible exposure, and local and federal health officials have faced tough questions over their handling of the case.

But Obama, while meeting Dallas Mayor, Mike Rawlings, in Texas yesterday, said resources would be made available to tackle the spread of the disease.
A statement by White House spokesperson, Eric Schultz, given to journalists in Washington, DC, said American doctors would be able to curtail the outbreak.
The statement said: “The President’s visit was to make sure the mayor gets the resources he needed from the Federal Government, including the Centres for Disease Control, to treat the patient safely, and control this case so that it does not spread widely.
“The President pledged that Federal agencies would remain in close coordination and reiterated his confidence in America’s doctors and national health infrastructure to handle this case safely and effectively.”
The White House spokesman said the administration is primarily concerned that Duncan be treated effectively and the virus “stopped in its tracks.”
