Kano State Governor, Engineer Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso Friday anointed his Deputy, Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje as his successor, Daily Trust has gathered.
It was gathered that Ganduje was endorsed around 2.am by Kwankwaso during a stakeholders meeting held at the Kano State Government House.
During the meeting attended by stakeholders of the All Progressives Congress(APC) in the state, Kwankwaso reportedly told the gathering that Ganduje is his candidate for the 2015 election in the state.Ganduje, 64 has been with Kwankwaso since 1999. And when they were defeated in 2003, they left and staged a comeback in 2011.
An aide of the governor confirmed the anointment of Ganduje by Kwankwaso.
Our correspondent reports that If he wins the general election, Ganduje will become the second Deputy Governor to succeed his boss.
The first was Alhaji Mahmud Aliyu Shinkafi of Zamfara state. He succeeded his boss, Ahmed Sani Yarima Bakura in 2007. However, months after they fell apart and Shinkafi decamped to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
Meanwhile our correspondent gathered the other governorship aspirants in APC have been given other positions.
