APC PRESIDENTIAL PRIMARIES: LAGOS RELEASES TRAVEL ADVICE

LAGOS—In view of high influx of both human and vehicular movement as All Progressives Congress, APC, holds its presidential primary at Teslim Balogun Stadium, Surulere, the Lagos State Government, through the Ministry of Transportation has advised motorists to use alternative routes in order to avoid traffic logjam.

According to a statement
 by Commissioner for Transportation, Mr Kayode Opeifa, vehicular movement in particular is expected to be adversely affected along Funsho Avenue/Western Avenue in Surulere, Yaba, Alhaji Masha and Costain axis, hence, the need to divert motorists to alternative routes.
The travel advice is that motorists from Lagos Island to Surulere have been directed to exit at Costain to link Surulere via Eric Moore.

Also motorists from Ikorodu Road, Mushin, Yaba and the Mainland are enjoined to use Ojuelegba to link Surulere via Itire-Lawanson Road or at Iponri via Bode Thomas.
Motorists from Surulere to Agege Road, Mushin and Ikorodu will be directed to Bode Thomas, Eric Moore, Akerele Road and Itire Lawanson Road to link Western Avenue and Agege Road to Ojuelegba roundabout.
Motorists to Lagos Island and Apapa from Surulere, Alhaji Masha and Shitta area are expected to divert to Bode Thomas and Eric Moore to link Eko Bridge.
Diversion and partial closure
Opeifa who disclosed that more men from the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority, LASTMA, will be at strategic points to effectively control traffic movement throughout the exercise, added that the following roads would be partially closed or diverted: Funsho Williams Avenue from Olumegbon to National Stadium among others, saying parking of vehicles would only be allowed at the stadium while pedestrian access to the convention would be restricted to only accredited APC members, observers and media personnel.

Teslim Balogun Stadium wears new look
Meantime, the Teslim Balogun Stadium, Surulere, Lagos is wearing a new look ahead of the APC national convention holding from December 10 to 11.
A visit to the stadium yesterday showed that the party’s flags and banners of presidential aspirants of the party dotted the venue of the convention.
Also, the stadium wore a colourful look with balloons and posters of the aspirants displayed in strategic areas.
Some Toyota Hilux vehicles belonging to the police were also parked in the premises.
