DEFEATED KANO PDP ASPIRANT DEMANDS REFUND OF N.5 MILLION FROM 26 DELEGATES

• 14 return money, thugs harass others
IN a dramatic twist, the covenant entered by 26 delegates with an aspirant in the last Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) primaries in Kano has turned awry as the delegates are being asked to refund the money collected to vote for him in the primaries.
The Guardian learnt that the aspiran
t (names withheld), who represented Gwale federal, who lost at the primaries was said to have negotiated with delegates to vote for him for a fee of N500, 000 each for the 26 delegates.
The aspirant, along with other PDP aspirants including Alhaji Kawu Idris Hausawa, Alhaji A. A. Sule and Yakubu Musa lost the seat to the incumbent Alhaji Mohammed Husari who will now vie with All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate.
According to a reliable source, the former aspirant had entered series of agreement (not written) with the delegates on the eve of the primaries before “he decided to offer the delegates N500, 000 each” but was disappointed the same people went for the highest bidder.

The Guardian gathered from one of the delegates (names withheld), who confirmed the development revealed that the aspirant is threatening many delegates’ lives after he lost out of the primaries.
He said they were actually offered the money to vote for him at the primaries but they later made another choice.
After his loss, the delegates alleged the said aspirant threatened them to return his money or risk their lives.
The delegate (names withheld) said “We were offered the money, about 26 of us, to vote for him during the primaries, but after the election the said aspirant lost and since then we haven’t had rest of mind again. The man has been using thugs to threat us demanding for the money or our lives.”
For fear for their dear lives, 14 of the 26 delegates were said to have refunded the former aspirant.
However, our source told our correspondent he was not ready to return the money revealing that his life is under threat.
Confirming the allegation the aspirant, who spoke with our correspondent on phone, who however, did not dispute the accusation insisted he would not discuss the matter on phone.
He said “you see my friend I cannot speak with you on phone. How can you just call me and start asking me about issue on phone. Unless we meet one on one to discus the matter I cannot speak with you on phone.”
On when would he be available to speak one on one with our correspondent, he said “I am currently in Abuja, when I return tomorrow insha Allah I will call you.”
