The leadership of the Urhobo Progress Union on Sunday said they would punish former Delta state Governor, Chief James Ibori, for allegedly masterminding the failure of the Chief David Edevbie, who the UPU endorsed as it’s candidate for the governorship of the state.
The President General of UPU, Chief Joe Omene, disclosed this when he received the governorship candidate of the Labour Party, chief Great Ogboru.
Omene said Ibori, who is serving a jail term in Britain and other Urhobo politicians that worked with him will have to pay for going against the resolution of UPU.
He said UPU would soon meet and come up with the appropriate
sanctions against all those “who sold Urhobo” during the PDP governorship primary.
“We still stand on the Uvwiamughe declaration,” Omene said.
On the purported endorsement of the candidate of the All Progressive Congress, Chief O’tega Emerhor, Omene said UPU was yet to endorse anybody on the 2015 governorship. “Such rumour should be disregarded,” he added.
