Electricity consumers in Nigeria has vowed to boycott the November bills nationwide over what they called exploitation and crazy billing by new power assets owners. This came as Nigerian Electricity Regulating Commission (NERC) vowed to sanction any Electricity Distribution Company that fail to implement the Credited Advance Payment for Metering Implementation (CAPMI).
The Consumer Rights Advancement Organisation (CRADO) which led a protest to a forum organised by the Nigeria Electricity Regulating Commission (NERC) in Lagos, stated that it had lined up a team of attorneys, who would take up a legal battle against any DISCO that disconnects consumers, who join the boycott.
President of CRADO, Chief Adeolu Ogunbanjo, who said that pre-paid meters were available in the warehouses of manufacturers, alleged a foul play by distribution firms to rip-off customers with the apathy they display to connection of the meters for customers.
