IGBO MARGINALISATION IN APC IS SELF INFLICTED – NGIGE

All Progressives Congress (APC) stalwart, Senator Chris Ngige, has expressed concern over what he described as ‘self-marginalisation” by the people of the South East following their refusal to embrace the party.
Ngige, who spoke to newsmen in Awka, the Anambra State capital, said that he did not spare any effort while trying to convince his kit
hs and kins, even had to take the gospel of APC to Ohaneze Ndigbo at their various meetings both in Enugu and Lagos, but nobody listened to him.
The Senator representing Anambra Central Senatorial zone said that Igbo, which rather preferred putting their eggs in one basket by their unalloyed support for Peoeples Democratic Party (PDP), tagged him “Mallam Ngige.”

Lamenting what he also called political short sightedness of Ndigbo, Ngige declared that the geo-political zone has lost in this dispensation except “Igbo merchants and businessmen make a decisive change of heart,” blaming the South East press for not explaining the matter properly to the people of the zone.
He said that even when some of the them from the East argued that the South East is weak in APC and the vice-presidential slot should be given to them to strengthen the zone in the party, it was clear that the zone that supported the party and made more sacrifice should produce the position.
He said that in the PDP, which the South East people are holding so tight, they have nothing; the president, vice-president, the Senate president, the Speaker of the House, Service Chiefs, Comptroller- General of Customs and many of such strategic positions.
