The Nigeria Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs (NSCIA) on Thursday condemned the decision of the federal government to abstain from voting on the move by the Israelis to pull out of Palestine territory.
Secretary General of the NSCIA, Professor Is-haq Oloyede, who spoke with journalists in Ilorin during a press conference on the development, described the action of the government as a step against freedom.
According to him, "the council was amazed that Nigeria would abstain from a move to end a 66-year old crisis".
He said the NSCIA was sad at the turn of events and that the Nigerian government had betrayed the people of Nigeria.
He noted,"What Nigeria has done is not only a somersault on its foreign policy but also a slap on the lovers of freedom all over the world and such action is condemnable".
