Ekiti State Governor, Mr. Ayodele Fayose, has tasked the All Progressives Congress, APC, Gen. Muhammadu Buhari, to clear the air about his educational certificates by publicly showing them.
There have been concerns in political circles over the true educational qualifications of the APC standard bearer who in a sworn affidavit obtained from an AbujaHigh Court, deposed that the papers were with the military authorities.
But speaking at the Ado-Ekiti leg of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP presidential campaign rally, Governor Fayose, who flaunted his primary
and secondary school certificates, as well as his National Diploma and Higher National Diploma certificates, challenged Buhari to do same or quit the presidential race.
He reiterated his last week’s position on the saga, saying, “the era where you will say I am leading Nigeria with school certificate is gone. I don’t take people on a personal note, but this particular leadership we are looking for must have the competence.”
Jonathan is the first Nigerian President who has the paper qualification. Gen. Buhari truly doesn’t have the certificate, he said, adding that, “People claimed that I don’t have the certificates too. I have gone through the courts, including the tribunal. So, what else are we talking about? I want Gen. Buhari to submit himself to check. It is not about popularity alone.
“Buhari must address the certificate issue in the overall interest of Nigeria. If Ayo Fayose with HND in a state like Ekiti is seen as someone without education, so, Gen. Buhari will now come with the Almajiri school and come and lead Nigeria?”
In Osogbo, Osun State, President Goodluck Jonathan yesterday promised to transform the lives of the youths of the country for better as his administration would create two million jobs annually if re-elected in next month’s election.
President Jonathan told the crowd at the rally that unemployment had contributed to the problems facing the country.
His words: “We have plans for employment generation. We know one of the greatest challenges for most governments including Nigeria is to get jobs for our youths but we are not sleeping. So, far we have been able to create a number of jobs.
“I have set up two bodies headed by the Vice President made up of people in government and the private sector. We call them Presidential Job Creation Board and Micro, Small and Medium Scale Enterprises Council, working very hard to ensure that every year two million jobs are created. Can somebody who has no plans do that?
According to the President, “Whatever I say, when you go back, call your aunts or call your uncles, your father or your mother, or your cousin, that is at least 60 years old and confirm and ask them what you heard that the Presidential candidate of PDP mentioned in any of the rallies because 2015 elections is about the young people: either you vote and continue to be relevant in Nigeria’s political history or you vote for you to be irrelevant.
He faulted the claim by Governor Rauf Aregbesola on the non release of monthly allocation to the state by the Federal Government, saying his administration has been releasing allocations to all states of the federation.
Earlier in his address, the Vice-President, Architect Mohammed Sambo appealed to the people of the state not to relent in demonstrating their unalloyed support to the PDP come next elections.
Also, the National Chairman of the PDP, Alhaji Adamu Muazu said people should cast their votes for the Presidential Candidate of his party as they should not vote for a Presidential Candidate without a Secondary School Certificate.
