POLICE ARREST MAN FOR SELLING SON FOR N300,000 IN UMUAHIA

Maduabuchi George Okey was nabbed by the Police for conspiring with one Obinna Erondu to sell his son, Chizoba Maduabuchi, aged one year and two months.
Maducbuchi was among suspected child traffickers, armed robbers and kidnappers paraded by the Abia State Police Command yesterday.
Abia state Commissioner of Police, Joshak Habila, told newsmen that Police swung into action and rescued the infant Maducbuich following an alarm raised by his mother, Eberechi Maduabuchi.
Mrs Maduabuchi told newsmen that on February 18, 2015, her husband asked her to bath their only son very early in the morning. She said her husband got angry when she refused to obey him and ordered her to do his bidding.
According to her, after bathing the baby, her husband told her that they would take the baby to his friend’s (Erondu) house. She said she objected too on the grounds that the day was still young. Thereafter, she said, her husband took the child with him to Erondu’s house. At about 5 pm, she said her husband sent a car to pick her to Erondu’s house, yet she insisted she would not go to the place. Eventually, her husband returned at about 10 pm withouth the child but was carrying a nylone bag which fell off his hand and spilled huge sums of money onto the floor. She said it dawned on her that her husband may have sold their child and she raised the alarm.
CP Habila said the Police traced the child to Erondu’s house at Mbutu Umuogwo village in Isiala Ngwa South local government area and recovered him but Erondu escaped.
Also paraded was a 40-year old man, Chizaram Amandu from Umuagua Eziala Nsulu of Isiala Ngwa North who the Police said stabbed one Sampson Sunday Uche (32) to death on February 20, 2015. The suspect was said to have stabbed the deceased with a small knife during a fight. While Amandu is in Police net, the remains of late Sunday has been deposited in the mortuary for preservation and autopsy as investigation into the matter continues.
Five young men said to be experts in vandalising Automated Teller Machines (ATM) were also paraded. Habila said they allegedly attempted to vandalise a First Bank ATM at Isiala Ngwa South. He said the Police was reasonably suspecting that they may also be kidnappers.
According to Habila, men of the Command also rescued a kidnap victim, one Calistus Agumonu, who lives in Port Harcourt. He said in the process of rescuing Agumonu, two of his abductors were arrested and that no ransom was paid.
He said that one Ezenwoko Gideon, suspected to be a notorious kidnapper and believed to have been terrorising Obingwa and environs, has been arrested.
The Commissioner of Police assured that the Police have evolved measures that would keep Abia free from crimes and criminality and to ensure that next month’s general elections were violence-free.
