Fresh facts have been obtained on the personality of the son of the former Chief Justice of Nigeria (CJN), Justice Mohammed Lawal Uwais, who allegedly joined deadly terrorist group, Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS).
Nigerian Tribune reliably gathered that the name of the suspect is Mohammed and not Ibrahim, as erroneously reported by a section of the media.
A family source further disclosed that he is the third son of the highly-regarded jurist, coming behind Ibrahim, the first son who works at the National Judicial Institute (NJI) in Abuja and the second son, Ahmed, a practising lawyer also in Abuja.
Mohammed was said to have studied in Malaysia, with his first wife said to be a Malaysian, while the second is a Nigerian.
He allegedly moved both wives and children abroad over a month ago, before the news of his alleged involvement with the terrorist group broke on Wednesday.
Mohammed, who shares same name with his father, was reportedly a businessman in Nigeria before his departure, importing and selling of automobiles.
It was also learnt that a few hours before the news of his alleged ISIS membership broke, gunmen had, Tuesday night, invaded the home of the former CJN, allegedly carting away documents.
The gunmen, described as robbers by a family source, were said to have gained access into the home of the 79-year old jurist through the back of the house and made straight for his bedroom.
They were said to have initially demanded for dollars and after reportedly telling them he had nothing of sort, they allegedly asked him how many people he had killed through death sentence.
He was said to have availed them with no response, while the armed men allegedly locking him up in his study before making away with a bag containing documents.
When the Nigerian Tribune called the former CJN on the twin issues and the possibility of their relatedness, the following conversation took place:
Tribune: Good afternoon sir, can I speak with my Lord, the former CJN?
Uwais: Speaking.
Tribune: Sir, I am Lanre Adewole from Tribune.
Uwais: Ok.
Tribune: We learnt armed robbers were at your place on Tuesday.
Uwais: Yes.
Tribune: We are sorry about that sir.
Uwais: Thank you.
Tribune: We learnt they made away with documents.
Uwais: I don’t understand what you are saying.
Tribune: We heard they made away with a bag containing documents.
Uwais: I’m still checking on what they took.
Tribune: This incident was Tuesday night and by Wednesday morning, the issue of your son, Mohammed’s involvement with terrorist group ISIS broke. We are wondering if you are thinking a possible nexus between the two incidents.
Uwais: Please let us end this conversation. I don’t want to comment yet.
Tribune: Ok. Thank you sir.
